Resources

While working with my students, I have often found that there are common stumbling blocks within the GCSE and A Level syllabi. I have begun creating a set of notes that can be freely downloaded, aiming to help students struggling in these areas. I have found that one of the most effective ways of teaching maths is to guide students towards discovering the rules, and the reason these rules are what they are, for themselves. Would you rather rote-learn an entire syllabus worth of maths, or would you rather develop intuition for the subject, and feel the satisfaction of something finally clicking? Maths is a beautiful subject, and at this level there is much that is accessible to students simply by following their intuition. I have written these notes with this in mind. My hope is that students will be convinced that they are absolutely able to understand the ideas that once seemed too complicated and confusing - the end goal is confidence!
